Frequently Asked Questions: Consultancy

What are your consultancy or interim fees?

For most contracts of a minimum of 6.5 hours a week for three months, my consultancy and interim fee is £65/hour. I work 6.5 hours a day on average, so that's a day rate of £420. It will be higher for fewer hours, or high levels of responsibility or difficulty. I encourage every potential client to consider more than one person when hiring me, and check their rates, but you will find that my rates are in line with the market for my level of skills and experience, and if that's ever not the case, let me know!

How can I tell if you're any good at fundraising?

I don't provide a number of "how much I've raised during my career", or a typical Return on Investment, because I know that's far more dependent on the popularity of the charities someone has worked for, than how skilled they are. To reassure you - if I'm tasked with raising or supporting others to raise funds, I have never cost more than I have brought in and generally I raise many times what I cost. However, fundraising has many variables, many of them outside of my control and yours, and I never guarantee income.

I will send you my CV which outlines some of my achievements. But more importantly, I encourage every potential client to talk to me about which of my former clients are the most relevant referee, and for you to have a phone call with them.

What are your coaching fees?

These differ depending on whether I'm delivering it independently or as part of a training package, and on whether it's your organisation paying (most common) or you're self-funding, but please rest assured they're in line with market rates, and I'm happy to quote you as soon as I have those particulars.

What coaching qualification do you have?

I have a Certification of Accreditation in Coaching through Culture At Work with Relational Dynamics 1st. It is equivalent to an ILM Level 7, considered the gold standard in coaching training.

Is what I say in my coaching sessions confidential?

You will sign a coaching agreement that explains that everything that happens in our sessions in confidential, including from your manager, unless you choose to share it. There are three exceptions:

  1. If I believe you may be a danger to yourself or others

  2. With your permission, I will discuss your coaching with my supervisor and my supervision group, both of which are also confidential spaces, to help me learn and grow as a coach.

  3. With your permission, and generally anonymously, I can share what we're working on as a case study on my LinkedIn, to help others facing similar issues.
